DESANESIA. Empowering Local Products Growth

Few weeks ago, a team from ICDC (Innovation for Community Development Center) Indonesia contacted me on a subject of product review inquiry. Usually I don’t get this excited when doing sponsored review, but this one’s quite different. What’s different is the moral behind: they encourage rural economic growth by helping them market local snack products made entirely by villagers in West Java. They’re coming out strong with DESANESIA brand. Well, if they’re aiming to help shaping the economy, then count me in to help spread the word :)

"DESANESIA: From our best fields for all your needs"

Currently Desanesia only have 2 products: Ranginang and Spinach Chips (Keripik Bayam). Ranginang is known as thick crackers made of sticky rice, seasoned and molded into round shape before sun-dried for several hours (or days). Lastly, those dried chips are deep-fried and unfurled itself into crispy rice crackers.

Desanesia's version of Ranginang uses ancestral base recipe that has been passed through generations from the villagers of Desa Cikoneng, Bandung regency. To give some modern twist, they innovate their Ranginang by creating fusion version of it. In this case, my preference goes: 1. Spicy-cheese flavor, 2. Cheese flavor, 3. Sweet Cheese Topping. All and all, Desanesia’s ranginang has the perfect crunch, adequate amount of seasoning, tasted light and not oily at all. I even ordered myself another batch of these because it gets really addictive I wished they had a bigger jar!

Even though
in the packaging that they sent me, everything says “Cheese flavored”, from
left to right they were actually: 1.
Original cheese flavor, 2. Sweet Cheese Topping, 3. Spicy-cheese flavor

Their Spinach Chips, on the other hand, only have 2 flavors: Original and Spicy. These  are the result of women empowerment from the residents of Desa Cikidang, Lembang. Cikidang village is well-known for its rapid vegetable produce. It is also said that the entire Desanesia products are done by women farmers. You can read more about it here.

Desanesia's Spinach Chips: crunchy, not oily, tasty spinach crackers. It’s everything you’d wish for a local traditional snack. I personally liked the Original version better.
