2013: Time For A Change.
My long love-hate relationship...with blogging platforms. Or whatever hypes on the internet. Read it on your spare time.
I remember my first time blogging it was probably 2006, under Friendster's blog platform. And then on January 2007, I tried blogspot, and even back then my write-up was already about food. But that didn't last long enough because for some reason I just hate the platform (no offense). So in May 2007 I switched to WordPress, and started babbling about all things in life but mostly mellow-dramatical and complaints (blame puberty hormones for this). And that actually goes parallel with having some periodical write-up about geeky stuff at INDC (Indonesia .NET Developer Community) Blogs from 2008-2010.
Somewhere in 2009, I became that typical internet user who wanted a domain on my own, so I setup http://umifadilah.net/ and that was on WordPress too. I even learnt custom theming myself and I recalled my first attempt wasn't so bad. But again, that didn't last long enough either and on 2010 I bought another domain http://designdeveat.com just because I had a turgid, ambitious dream: have 3 different kind of blogs under 1 domain, one that speaks about geeky stuff, 2nd about design, and the last one...about food. Aaaaaand of course... Epic fail. Wasted domain.
Also on 2010 I started learning photography, and even I became an early-adopter on having those mirrorless camera - Lumix GF1 (trust me, NO one had mirrorless camera at that time! People looked down at it) - then built a photoblog journal at http://photos.designdeveat.com. That was probably my proudest moment of having custom hand-coded blog.
On 2010 I also started to take foodblogging more serious at http://eat.designdeveat.com. That resulted on heaps of foodtasting invitation, lots and lots of foodblogger friend, and I was a happy netizen again. But everything changed ever since some freaking Tunisian hacker hacked the blog. Unbelievable. The aftermath was simple. I just can't help the laziness that always creeps in over time, so for the zillionth time...I had'em all wasted. Again, some futile effort on WordPress custom theme-making, so I think I've learnt my lesson here:
That's it. I've had enough. No more customized blog. It's not worth the effort (and maintenance). Because basically I am not a very dedicated blogger.
(Anything else in between, try name a blogging/micro-blogging platform, and I think I had my name registered on it. Tumblr, plurk, deviant art, twitter, and last but not least... Posterous.)
So here we are. 2013. Using Posterous as my main blogging platform, I used to talk only about food. But I think that's going to change now. That SHOULD change.
This blog no longer talks about food only. Scary fact: I gained almost 20kgs while maintaining this foodblog over the past 2.5 years.
I don't blame the foodtasting-then-blog-it part, but it's true, that some of it were part of what triggers the slow-but-steady weight inclination. It's because everytime I hop onto some new restaurant I feel kinda obliged to do some write-up. And that triggers me to order more food than I could normally handle. All of these, form a very unhealthy habit - even if at the end of the day, you know you're NOT going to write anything that you've just eaten into a blog post anyway.
So, can I really write anything else than food?
Tough one, actually :p I have just realized that I've developed new passion (and that might just be my new habit) in 2011-2012. Over the past two years, my routine includes lots and lots of travelling and going to concerts, but I rarely blogged anything about 'em.
Went to Singapore for Korean concert (SNSD, BigBang, Shinee etc lol), Grand Prix 2011 for Linkin Park & Shakira, Maroon 5 twice, Jason Mraz both acoustic at Bali & Jakarta LOVE Tour, Bruno Mars, Sara Bareilles, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, David Cook, Simple Plan, Keane, Coldplay at Sydney twice, heck....even Justin Bieber! :) So maybe I'll start with that. Hopefully 2013 there'll be more and more concerts to come.
2012 is also highlighted as Travelling Year for me. Local trips from Jogja, Semarang, Jepara. Also int'l trips to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Seoul, Taiwan, Seattle-San Jose-San Fransisco, Sydney (1, 2, 3). Each has untold story and I was glad I fulfilled so many travel resolutions. Hopefully 2013 will be huge as well.
That's it. About the name, I might consider changing or leave it just like that. We'll see.
Thanks for reading!
Cheers..
