Going for Something Bold? Try MIE ACEH LOBSTER.
You know the phrase ‘A picture’s worth a thousand words’ right? Tell me how much you see from this pic on the right:

Yes, it's MIE ACEH LOBSTER from MIE ACEH MANGAT, a new Acehnese restaurant located strategically at Jl. Bangka Raya No.30 Kemang.
How good does it sounds? Sounds very very appetizing to me. Mie Aceh Mangat claims to be the first ever Mie Aceh that is bold enough to innovate and break the tradition by adding ‘premium’ ingredients such Lobster and Salmon in its recipe. And I knew I wouldn’t miss it for the world, so on a Monday night I went there to find out.
Mie Aceh, a spicy noodle dish from Aceh that uses thick yellow noodle cooked with bold curry-like spices, is usually served either dry (mie goreng), half-soupy (mie goreng basah/nyemek), or soupy (mie kuah). The original recipe from Acehnese people usually use beef, goat meat, or common seafood item such as prawn. And the addition of lobster just intrigues me because if you haven’t notice, lately affordable lobster is quite happening here in Jakarta, pioneered by Loobie Lobster.
A meal of Mie Aceh with full-sized lobster will cost you around IDR 79k, and half-lobster for IDR 49k. They’re supposed to use marine Lobster (sea lobster) which is much bigger in size and has a sweeter flesh, but too bad on my first visit there, they weren’t available. So instead of one HUGE marine lobster as seen on the advertorial pic above, they used 3 (three) medium-sized crayfish/freshwater lobsters instead! Still, a really good deal for me.
Overall it was a great pleasure for me to have my first ever Mie Aceh Salmon & Mie Aceh Lobster (err..crayfish, this time) - well this just means that I have to go back here for the original marine lobster version, and I heard it’s coming here next week! But if you’re craving for MIE ACEH CRAYFISH you know you can have it from now on. Hop on to Kemang and satisfy those curiosity :)
Cheers,
Mie Aceh
