Current Favorite: Glaze Teriyaki Grill, Union Square

As promised, here's my first entry to the Cheap Eats Near School category!

Meet my current favorite, Glaze Teriyaki. Located at 139 4th Ave, just 6 mins walk from my building and 3 mins walk from Union Square, this is my go-to place whenever I'm craving for a quick, satisfying Asian meal which consist mostly with rice, protein and vegetables. In fact, I went here more than 3 times already, but often without proper gear (a.k.a cameras) so I only have few photos right now. Will update again soon.

Poke Grill: Japanese Grill All The Way.

Poke Grill is the 5th establishment under Poke Group, the company that owns all-Poke brands including Poke Sushi & Poke Express. Located at Rukan Permata Senayan, it occupies quite a small space to accommodate only 30-40ish guests. It has this typical Japanese ambiance hinted with wooden décor and an indoor open-kitchen concept, so you can see the whole grilling process.

A Hidden Japanese Gem Called "Sumiya"

Who would have thought that in STC (Senayan Trade Center) there is an actual Japanese restaurant worth eating? Hidden among the bustle of electronics & air soft-gun shops at the Ground Floor, this is exactly where Sumiya is located. Sumiya is said to be an authentic Japanese restaurant and I’ve heard some really good praises on it in social media. But just how ‘authentic’ is authentic? I went there on some dinner time to find out.

Finally, A Dedicated Udon Place in Jakarta.

Some bits of history first:

Have you heard of Babacucu.com? If you happen to be a freebie hunter you should really check them out (this is not a sponsored statement :p). It stands for "Bagi bagi cuma cuma", which literally means that this is a giveaway portal that accommodates people who wants to give something for FREE & vice versa, people who wants to look for freebies without much effort. It chooses the winner randomly (I think ~ can't figure out if they're using special philanthropy algorithm or not). It's super random, I know, haha, but think of it as testing your luck.

Omakase at UMAKU, My Best Sushi Dining Experience

Omakase (お任せis a phrase that literally means "to entrust". Means, when you order Omakase at a Japanese restaurant, you are entrusting the chef to prepare your meal at his whim; from appetizer to dessert. He will then select the freshest local/seasonal ingredients-of-the-day and arrange them into sequence, giving you a special dining experience, featuring both hot and cold dishes that demonstrates the diversity and originality of authentic Japanese cuisine.

If I were a student living in Sydney...

Hell, I'd be number one fan of these two: Menya Mappen & OidenIn my previous short trip to Sydney two weeks ago, these two were the most satisying cheap-eats that I came here so often, 4 times in 5 days, lol. So there goes reason number one: it's super delicious and affordable,

Easily New Favorite Sushi Restaurant: UMAKU!

Okay, if you follow me on Twitter you'll notice how often i brag about my new favorite sushi joint called Umaku. They have just opened new branch in Alam Sutera BSD, which is quite near from home. And during their soft opening last month they gave us 55% discount! Even without the big cut-offs, in my opinion their prices are very reasonable, with good quality of food being served and fresh ingredients. So in a nut shell, yes, IT'S VERY RECOMMENDED.

Kamikaze Karaage - Chicken Wings Madness!

Just like the previous post about Tokyo Dog, this time I'm using Disdus voucher (again) to try out Kamikaze Karaage. Cheapskate, I know! Haha. I guess I just can't help it, being a daily deal hunter. If it means you get to broaden your culinary experience by paying half the price, then why not? :)

Tokyo Dog: Japanese-Style Hot Dog is in Town!

Tried out this new Japanese Hotdog booth in Plaza Senayan using Groupon Disdus voucher, right one week before it expired. The place is a bit tricky to find, and as it was written on the address: "B1 Fl Unit A 2 F, Plaza Senayan Jakarta" - which turns out that it's located on Sogo's Basement.
