Summer Festival! The Giglio Feast 2014, Williamsburg

I remember it's only been 4 days since I moved to New York a month ago, I got introduced to some Indonesian friends living in Elmhurst, Queens. They had a car so we took a ride around Williamsburg and parked a couple of blocks near the venue. I had no idea what were we getting into, but what I know back then was the fact that it's super crowded and damned hot (almost 34°C!). Now ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to:

Mangga Dua Culinary Spot: Nasi Uduk Ibu Sum

From Mangga Besar we’re moving on to Mangga Dua. The first time I got introduced to Nasi Uduk Bu Sum was through Jen’s post few months ago, and I kinda regret that I waited too long to try it myself. The problem is, they only open starting from 10 PM. And the fact that I live approximately 35km+ from there, makes it harder for me to pay a visit whenever I wanted to.

Mangga Besar Culinary Spot: Bakso Akiaw 99 Medan

As promised, I’m currently on my Central Jakarta series of posts so let’s just get to the chase. The title you’ve just read on top, is one of the reason why I will never, ever, become a vegetarian. Even if I do in the future (small chances, Me. Small chances :p), that’d probably because I suffer from a long-term memory lost or my palate has gone numb – because that’s just how good this stuff is. You know how I usually mark my Featured Post on umifadilah.com with a yellow background? For this post I’d highlighted with red background and a capital 72px font if possible, you know.

The Chinese Congee Battle: Bubur Angke vs. Bubur Mangga Besar I

There are lots of Chinese congee restaurant in Jakarta, from the ones we see regularly at the shopping malls, to the ones located hidden and renowned only if you ask the elder locals. The only places I've been to up until now are: Bubur Angke, Bubur Mabes (Mangga Besar), Bubur Sanki and Bubur Kwang Tung Pecenongan (for the latter two I don’t have the material yet so let’s save it for another round).

#StreetFoodAddict: Bakmi Jogja Apjay Pak Ivan, PangPol

You know how much I love street-food. It’s pretty self-explanatory I guess, they’re quick, cheap, and the last time I wrote an honest review about them I got sent to the World Street Food Congress back in June, LOL (a bonus!). That’s why if you ask me, I’m always more of a street-food foodie thriving to look for hidden gems inside and out; than being an up-scale restaurateur / café hunter hopping from one new, hip places to another.

#StreetFoodAddict: Nasi Bebek Madura H. Munawi

When was the last time you’ve drooled so much over a culinary article, or videos on the internet?

#StreetFoodAddict: Bubur Ayam Madurasa

Yeay, another ‘Bubur Ayam’ street-food! Located quite strategically right in front of Al-Azhar University’s back entrance (just few meters behind the infamous Roti Bakar Eddy’s), where people usually pass through that route to avoid 3-in-1 traffic, there’s this humble street-cart with enormous neon lighting and WiFi. Yes, WiFi. That is new to me. Other street-food vendors need to learn from Aditya Sani, the owner of Bubur Ayam Madura, which also happens to be a Strategist Consultant for one of our biggest telco company. Hence the FREE WiFi is sponsored by them – quite a breakthrough!
