World Street Food Congress 2013: ROUNDUPS PART 2

Being on a 3D2N trip, I managed to go to the Jamboree twice, at Sunday night and Monday whole day. Located at the F1 Pit Paddock area, WSFC Jamboree occupies a really spacious venue, I must say, that the crowd seems to look more scattered and sprawled. In WSFC 2013 Jamboree feast, there were over 44 different kinds of foods from 37 food stalls from 10 countriesSingapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, China, United States, Mexico, and Denmark

World Street Food Congress 2013: ROUNDUPS PART 1

Wow, I don’t know where to start. It’s been over 2 weeks since my WSFC (World Street Food Congress) trip to Singapore, until I finally decided that I owe this blog some nice, thorough post about the whole journey. One thing for sure, I’m overwhelmed. And grateful I had the chance. The hospitality was amazing.

I DID IT! World Street Food Congress 2013, Here I Come!

On Tuesday, I was having a regular Lync concall at the office when my phone kept ringing for about 4 times from 021-xxxxxxx. I was nearly like, "Okay this shouldn't be just another credit card phone scam, this might be somewhat important". And so my boss told me to pick up the phone; so I paused our meeting and I answered.

Meet My All Time Favorite Snack: CIRENG

I've said it before, Cireng to Indonesian is as addictive as French Fries to Americans, and Tteokbokki to Koreans, lol. Had been living in Bandung for over 4 years during college, it was more than enough for cireng to leave a long-lasting impression to me :p It's cheap, tasty, and you can found them almost everywhere. But ever since I moved back to Jakarta, I tell you, it's quite hard to find cireng stalls on the street. Even if it's available, they're nothing like what I usually had in Bandung. Until one day.....

Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki, The Spiritual Food of Osaka

My series of #JapanTrip blog posts would be incomplete without mentioning Osaka, which is also known as The Gastronomics' City or The City of "Kuidaore". Kuidaore literally means "eat until you drop" or "stuff yourself until you can't eat anymore," which explains Osaka's food loving culture. (...I knew it! I see we have the same interest, Osaka.. :). Read more..

MUST EAT List When Visiting South Korea (PART 1)

I went to Seoul last year, exactly on mid April, without knowing anything about its local food except for what I used to see in Korean dramas: Bulgogi, Bibimbap, Jjajangmyeon and Tteokbokki. So when I actually came there, honestly it was like a total blast; you keep getting surprised of 'accidental food discovery', especially the things we found on the streets late at night. ...

My Gigantic List of What to Eat in Jogjakarta

I spent my childhood in Jogjakarta, so for over 11 years (1994-2005), I grew up with foods relatively close to my neighbourhood. And when people asked me "What to eat in Jogja? where do I go for culinary trip in Jogja? Where's the yummiest gudeg in town?" - The answers will vary, subject to what everyone had their first impression on. But here's my personal recommendation(s) and I'll be glad if you found it helpful :)

Discover Central Java: Semarang in 6 hours

Continuing previous post about Jepara short trip, well this one's exactly a day after it. My friend and I had the entire morning-afternoon free before our flight at around 4pm, so we decided to (again,) try to make the most out of our 6 hours remaining time :)
